Itinerary

Arrive in Bangkok at 6:30 AM and transfer to your hotel for check-in (early check-in subject to availability; standard check-in at 2:00 PM). Relax until 5:30 PM, then hop on a tuk tuk for an evening adventure. Zip through bustling streets to Yaowaraj Road, savoring Guay Tiew Kua Gai noodles and local snacks. Stroll the vibrant flower market and cruise the old city, soaking in Bangkok’s nocturnal charm. Return to your hotel by 10:00 PM.

Depart at 6:00 AM by MRT to Wat Pho, joining a Buddhist morning ritual by the Reclining Buddha. Visit the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew’s Emerald Buddha. Enjoy a local lunch, then ferry across the Chao Phraya River to Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn. Cruise the canals to Chinatown for a walking tour of local life. After breakfast, drive 4 hours to Aranyaprathet in Sa Kaeo province. Cross the Thai-Cambodian border at Poipet, where your Cambodian guide welcomes you. Travel 3 hours to Banteay Chhmar, a 12th-century Angkorian temple in Thma Puok District, passing palm-dotted countryside. Stop to sample crispy bugs like crickets. Explore the temple’s bas-reliefs depicting Khmer life, visit Banteay Toap’s ruins, and admire a nearby water reservoir. Continue to Siem Reap for check-in.

Depart at 8:00 AM for Angkor Thom’s South Gate, adorned with four giant faces symbolizing compassion and charity. Explore Bayon Temple’s 200+ smiling stone faces, Baphuon, Phimeanakas, and the Terraces of the Leper King and Elephants. Visit Ta Prohm, the “Tomb Raider” temple entwined with tree roots. At 8:30 AM, explore the Grand Circuit, starting with Srah Srang’s royal basin, Banteay Kdei, Ta Keo, Preah Khan, Neak Pean, Ta Som, and East Mebon. In the afternoon, visit Banteay Srei, a 10th-century “Citadel of Women” with exquisite pink sandstone carvings. Stop at a palm sugar village, explore Banteay Samre’s serene temple, and climb Pre Rup for a sunset over rice paddies. Return to your hotel. Flexible itinerary; skip temples if desired.

Depart at 8:30 AM for Phnom Kulen, a sacred mountain 57km from Siem Reap. Visit Preah Dak market to observe local trade, then explore the giant reclining Buddha and the River of 1,000 Lingas’ Hindu carvings. Relax by the waterfall, swimming or enjoying fresh coconut juice (lunch at own expense). Stop at a palm sugar village en route back to Siem Reap.

Check out at 7:30 AM and drive 3 hours to Sambor Prei Kuk in Kampong Thom, a 7th-century Chenla Empire capital and UNESCO site. Stop to taste bamboo sticky rice and visit the 12th-century Kampong Kdei Bridge. Explore the brick temples of Ishanapura, surrounded by lush forest. Continue to Kratie, then ferry to Koh Trong Island for check-in and a free evening.

Cycle (or walk) through Koh Trong Island, passing stilt houses and grape farms, tasting the island’s famous pomelo. Engage with locals to learn about rural life and superstitions. In the afternoon, ferry to the mainland to visit Wat Sasar Mouyrouy, the “100-Column Pagoda,” and cruise the Mekong River’s Kampi Pool to spot rare Irrawaddy dolphins, enjoying a riverside sunset.

Enjoy a free day on Koh Trong Island, relaxing by the Mekong’s shores, strolling through villages, or mingling with friendly locals.

After breakfast, check out and drive to Mondulkiri Province, stopping at Bousra Waterfall to cool off and relax (bring extra clothes for swimming). Continue to your hotel for check-in and a free evening. Overnight in Mondulkiri. Meals: Breakfast Note: Mayura Zipline is temporarily closed.

Depart at 8:00 AM for Tree Lodge Bungalows, then trek to the Mondulkiri Project’s Jungle Lodge. Learn about elephant conservation, meet five elephants and their mahouts, and feed them bananas. Observe their natural behaviors, like bamboo foraging and mud baths. After lunch, swim and play with the elephants in the valley. Return to your hotel in the late afternoon.

Check out and drive to Phnom Penh, stopping in Kampong Cham to visit Wat Nokor, a 12th-century Angkorian temple. Continue to Skun’s “Spider Village” to sample crispy bugs. Arrive in Phnom Penh, check into your hotel, and explore the city at leisure in the evening.

At 8:00 AM, drive along the riverfront to the Independence Monument for photos. Visit Choeung Ek Killing Fields, a somber memorial to over 20,000 victims, and Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, a former prison. Shop at the Russian Market, then tour the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, adorned with 5,000 silver tiles. Explore the National Museum’s Khmer sculptures and Wat Phnom, the city’s legendary founding site.

Depart at 8:00 AM for Phnom Oudong, 40km northwest of Phnom Penh, a 16th-century royal capital. Climb 500 steps to the summit, exploring three grand stupas housing Cambodian kings’ ashes and smaller temples. Enjoy panoramic views and learn about Oudong’s history. Optionally, visit the 8th-century Phnom Praset temple or a silversmith village (discuss with your guide). Return to Phnom Penh in the afternoon.
