After breakfast, embark on a full-day tour of Vientiane’s cultural landmarks. Visit Wat Sisaket, the city’s oldest temple (built 1818), housing thousands of Buddha statues and ancient sculptures. Explore Wat Prakeo, once home to the Emerald Buddha. Stop at the iconic Patuxay Monument, Vientiane’s Arc de Triomphe, and climb for panoramic city views. En route to the sacred That Luang Stupa, Laos’ national symbol, capture its golden brilliance. Board the C82 speed train from Vientiane to Luang Prabang (8:50 AM–10:52 AM). Upon arrival, store luggage at your hotel and begin a half-day tour. Visit Wat Xieng Thong, a masterpiece of Laotian architecture with low-sweeping roofs, and Wat Visoun, the city’s oldest temple. Explore the National Museum at the former Royal Palace, showcasing artifacts from Laos’ royal history. Climb Mount Phousi for a gilded stupa and a stunning sunset over the Mekong River. Join a morning tour (join-in) riding an ATV for 5 km to the Namkat Waterfall. Trek 1 km through jungle, crossing 13 flying bridges, and relax at the waterfall. Return by ATV to the tour center. Explore the Angkor Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Begin at Angkor Thom (12th century), entering via the South Gate with its ocean-churning statues. Visit Bayon Temple, famed for 54 towers with over 200 smiling Avalokitesvara faces, Phimeanakas, Royal Enclosure, Elephant Terrace, and Terrace of the Leper King.
