The Mekong River Journey: 6 Days offers two cruise directions: Downstream (Luang Prabang to Vientiane) and Upstream (Vientiane to Luang Prabang). The Upstream itinerary is essentially the reverse of the Downstream route, covering the same destinations, excursions, and experiences in a mirrored order. Both directions provide identical highlights, including Kuang Si Waterfalls, Ban Don Saingam, Salakham market, Xayabouri Dam, and Vientiane’s landmarks, with the same cultural activities (alms-giving, Baci ceremony, Lao dance, riverside barbecue) and onboard amenities. The primary difference is the starting and ending points, allowing you to choose based on your travel plans.
