Arrive in Hanoi, Vietnam’s vibrant capital, and be warmly welcomed by your guide and driver for a transfer to your hotel. Refresh with a delicious meal, then enjoy a 1-hour cyclo ride through the bustling Old Quarter, soaking in its historic charm. Savor dinner at a local restaurant.

After breakfast, visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum at Ba Dinh Square, where Vietnam’s revered leader declared independence in 1945. Explore the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university, built in 1070 to honor Confucius. After lunch, tour the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology (closed Mondays), showcasing the country’s 54 ethnic groups. Return to your hotel for dinner and relaxation.

Begin with a 1.5-hour walking tour of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, starting at Cao Thang Street’s spice stalls. Visit Dong Xuan Market, Hanoi’s largest, for souvenirs and local goods. Stroll Hang Ma Street’s vibrant lantern shops and Hang Be’s outdoor market. Explore Hang Buom Street and Bach Ma Temple, Hanoi’s oldest, and sample street food and beer on Ta Hien Street. Conclude at Hoan Kiem Lake and The Huc Bridge to Ngoc Son Temple, enjoying a Water Puppet Show.

Travel to Halong Bay after breakfast. Board your cruise with a welcome drink and safety briefing, then sail through stunning limestone karsts. Enjoy a Vietnamese set-menu lunch while cruising Bai Tu Long Bay. Kayak, swim, or relax in the afternoon, followed by a sunset party on deck.

Start with Tai Chi on the sundeck, followed by breakfast. Visit Thien Canh Son Cave, learning its natural history. Join a Vietnamese cooking demonstration before a special lunch. Disembark and return to Hanoi for leisure time, then board an overnight train to Hue.

Arrive in Hue and enjoy breakfast before cruising the Perfume River to Thuy Bieu Village, known for Thanh Tra fruit. After lunch, tour Emperor Minh Mang’s Tomb, blending architecture and nature. Dinner on your own.

Visit Hue’s UNESCO-listed Imperial Citadel, featuring the South Door, Flag Tower, Edict Pavilion, Supreme Harmony Palace, and Forbidden Purple City. Drive to Hoi An via Hai Van Pass and Lang Co’s fishing village. After lunch,explore Hoi An’s UNESCO-listed Ancient Town, visiting Quan Cong Temple, Phuc Kien Pagoda, and the iconic Japanese Bridge.

Fly from Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh City. Tour the Old Colonial Quarter, visiting the historic City’s Old Hotel, designed by Paul Gardès, and the Paris-inspired Opera House. Admire Notre Dame Cathedral and the Gustave Eiffel-designed Central Post Office. After lunch, explore Cho Lon’s Chinese quarter and bustling Binh Tay Market. Dinner on your own.

Drive to Cai Be and cruise to Mekong Lodge, checking into private bungalows. After lunch, cycle through nearby villages, marveling at rice terraces and visiting orchards to taste fresh fruit. Enjoy a free afternoon to relax at the lodge.

Cruise Cai Be’s vibrant floating market and visit ground markets, observing traditional rice cake, coconut candy, and caramel soufflé production. Sample local honey tea before returning to the lodge. Transfer back to Ho Chi Minh City for check-in and a restful evening.
