Itinerary

Arrive at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport, where your local guide will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. In the evening, savor a welcome dinner at a renowned local restaurant, sampling authentic Vietnamese cuisine. Accommodation: The Q Hotel (Deluxe Room) or similar

Depart at 9:00 AM for Duong Lam Ancient Village (60 km west of Hanoi), a 1,200-year-old national relic with laterite and mud-brick houses. Walk narrow alleys, visit the intact Mong Phu Temple gate, and enjoy green tea with locals in a historic home. Return to Hanoi for lunch, then visit the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university dedicated to Confucius. Enjoy a 1-hour cyclo tour through the French-inspired Old Quarter, browsing markets and boutiques. Conclude with a water puppet show, a traditional northern Vietnamese art form. After a light dinner of phở or Vietnamese bread, board a night train to Lao Cai (Sapa) at 9:00 PM, settling into a 4-berth cabin (2-berth upgrade available upon request; groups of 2 may share with others).
Note: Pack a small bag for Sapa (3 days); leave excess luggage at your Hanoi hotel for retrieval on Day 5. Prepare for a long day.

Arrive at Lao Cai Station at 6:00 AM and transfer to Sapa (1 hour). After breakfast, trek to Cat Cat Village, a Black Hmong community. Pause at a waterfall and hydroelectric station, then continue through rice paddy terraces and along a scenic river to Y Linh Ho Village. Enjoy lunch by the river. Trek through Muong Hoa Valley, passing Lao Chai (Black Hmong) and Tavan (Giay) villages, soaking in stunning landscapes. Return to Sapa by car.

After breakfast, enjoy free time until hotel checkout at 12:00 PM. After lunch, take a 4-minute mountain train through valleys and tunnels to the cable car station. Ride the 20-minute cable car to Fansipan Peak, Indochina’s highest mountain (3,143m), enjoying panoramic views of Hoang Lien Range’s lush forests. Descend by cable car and return to Sapa by train. Transfer to Lao Cai Station for the 9:30 PM night train to Hanoi (dinner on your own).

Depart Hanoi at 7:45 AM for a 3-hour drive to Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Board a traditional junk boat at Tuan Chau Port (11:45 AM), enjoying a welcome drink and cruise briefing. Savor lunch while cruising past Incense Burner, Dog Stone Islet, and Fighting Cock. Visit Titov Island (4:00 PM) to climb for a 360-degree bay view or swim at the beach. Anchor for the night, joining a fruit and vegetable carving lesson at 6:30 PM. After dinner (7:30 PM), try squid fishing, play board games, or book a massage (additional cost).

Return to the boat, pack, and enjoy a full breakfast (9:30 AM). Settle bills and relax on the sundeck as you cruise back to Tuan Chau Port (11:00 AM). Drive to Hanoi for an afternoon flight to Hue.
